Division/Office of Hospital Physical Environment (OHPE)

​OHPE provides ongoing support for Clinical Center/Hospital in retention of The Joint Commission Accreditation through facility program compliance oversight in accordance with the Hospital Accreditation Standards (i.e., Life Safety and Environment of Care) and long-term sustainability in collaboration with various ORF and ORS divisions/offices.  Rozario A. Following are key areas of responsibilities;
  • ​Provide oversight to ensure a safe, functional, and compliant physical environment for patient treatment, biomedical research and occupant safety.

  • Conduct fire & life safety assessments and maintain Statement-of-Conditions.

  • Ensure accurate documentation & reporting of inspection, testing, and maintenance records of hospital utility systems that is retained for annual focused survey assessments and tri-annual Joint Commission Accreditation surveys.

  • Develop and maintain inventory mapping, measures of success, and emergency response drawings for operations and maintenance.

  • Provide oversight and facilitate all design and construction in the Clinical Center Complex in compliance with applicable codes and standards.

  • Facilitate compliance with construction risk assessments, infection control measures and interim utility & life safety measures for construction projects through PO & contractor Joint Commission-required trainings and periodic inspections.

  • Collaboratively perform risk assessments and inspections to sustain occupant and building infrastructure safety and reliability.

  • Recommend short and long-term improvements for sustainability and reliability of ongoing programs.

  • Provide support for response to any immediate threat to health and safety situations impacting facility infrastructure.
