F Wing (Building 10)

Building 10

Building 10 is a complex of buildings on the Bethesda campus that includes the new Mark O. Hatfield Clinical Research Center, the world's largest clinical research hospital.  The original structure in the Complex was opened in 1955.

Building 10 F-Wing Renovation

The F-Wing renovation will convert approximately 215,000 gross square feet of former patient care units on floors 2 through 13 to accommodate Biosafety Level 2 laboratories, lab support areas, and administrative offices for eleven NIH ICs. The work involves full interior and infrastructure renovations, including mechanical areas on floors 4, 9, 13, and 14.

The F-Wing laboratories are designed to be open, flexible, and modular in nature. Each floor includes shared amenities such as restrooms, break rooms, and conference rooms. Floors also include fixed elements such as open lab modules, autoclaves, tissue culture, cold rooms, equipment rooms, and fume hood alcoves. Other areas are designed to be adaptable and can be fitted out in a number of configurations with minimal reconfiguration of utilities and casework.
