NIH Northwest Childcare Center (NWCCC)
Supporting NIH priorities by providing safe, secure, sound, healthy, and attractive facilities
NIH Northwest Childcare Center (NWCCC)
Page Content
Description:
The LEED Silver NIH Northwest Childcare Center (NWCCC), is a 21,000 square foot facility that opened in June 2017. It provides convenient, affordable, and high quality child care for the NIH community and directly supports the recruitment and retention of high caliber researchers at the NIH.
Site-specific design overcame a challenging sloped topography. Numerous stormwater management structures were incorporated into the site design as well as environmentally friendly sidewalks, paving, and a green roof.
Playgrounds, c
lassroom areas
and other interior spaces were designed to foster a play based learning environment which integrates with the natural setting.
